Lanyon Quoit is a megalithic portal dolmen or tomb of the Neolithic Era from around 4000 to 3000 BC. Located on a dramatic moor in northwest Penzance near Morvah on the Penrith peninsula, Cornwall, England, The former burial chamber was the core of a mound of earth and stone.

Lanyon Quoit has a 5.5 meter (16ft) capstone which stands on 3 upright stone orthostats which are 1.5 meters (5ft) high. Originally Lanyon Quoit was at the north end of a long barrow 26 metres (76ft) long and 12 metres (36ft) wide. Lanyon was a portal tomb and the stones would have formed a chamber inside the barrow with an entrance.

This part of Cornwall has a large amount of Neolithic dolmen and standing stone rings. Little is known of their uses but quite often these burial chambers were for communal burials and may have been used as part of ancestor worship cults that were believed to have been part of Neolithic cultures.

Originally Lanyon was supported on four orthostats and was high enough for a rider and horse to pass under. In 1815, the quoit collapsed and it was not until 9 years later that enough money was collected to raise the monument again, this time on 3 orthostats as one had been damaged beyond repair.
